No vision of the ‘60s would seem complete without Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth,” and the band was the launching point for both Stephen Stills and Neil Young, two of the most accomplished musicians and writers of their era. None of their albums were entirely consistent, but the high points are classic, a powerful mix of country twang and psychedelic-tinged rock.

To the average classic-rock-radio listener, not much here will sound familiar beyond Stills’ “For What It’s Worth” and a few of the Neil Young songs that made their way onto Decade.   But their albums were quite good, despite their inconsistencies.  Worth a few good listens, at the least.
