The Byrds were a band I didn’t know much before embarking on this rock-retro project, but they are more than worthy of getting to know—from their jangle-pop beginnings through their psychedelic explorations to their shift into country-rock. I have to say that although it seems I like to dis the Byrds every now and then, when I hear all their best stuff all at once, like on this playlist, I find it pretty damned phenomenal. I exceed my self-imposed limit of 120 minutes here to include their most worthy track from the 1970s.
