There’s a certain cheese factor to loving Urge Overkill, I am well aware. Just listening to their music, you can practically see them faux-‘70s-strutting their way through their set. But that’s part of their charm. They embrace the kitsch, make it their own, and shape it into something glorious.

And it seems they can pull off anything. They have a herky-jerky, off-kilter air to their otherwise quite palatable alt-rock take on power-pop and rock and roll. The vibe is fresh and fun, and their tunes are delivered with the flair of an up-and-coming band sure of itself and playing it fast and loose. Great stuff.

Here’s a nice, plastic-sealed package of sliced Urge Overkill. Dig it.
