Oasis made big and bold and brash music about living loud and large forever, about chasing the sun, about being rock and roll stars. Their brand of Britpop was grandiose—rock with a bright, supersonic shimmer. Full of ego, it formed a marked contrast to the self-effacing angst of the contemporary American alt-rock scene. It should come as no surprise that they attracted such a following.

Here are two playlists of Oasis’ ‘90s work.

Playlist 1

Playlist One is the ultimate place to start your Oasis listening—an hour-long sampling from their two first, best, most significant albums, Definitely Maybe (1994) and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995). Essential.

Playlist 2

I’m pretty content with only my first playlist of Oasis, actually; and completists will of course want it all. Those who fall somewhere in between can satisfy any additional Oasis cravings with Playlist Two, which contain a few more tracks from the two albums above, as well as some stray tracks from the period; it concludes with highlights from Be Here Now (1997).
