After a very lengthy delay, NoHypeNoTrendsMusic posts have returned.
I had already planned to take the summer off, for the most part—I just had too much travel and visiting friends and family to get any extensive writing and listening done. But the return to work has met another complication.
The motherboard of my laptop fried over the summer, and when I returned home early September, I discovered that the external backup drive I was planning to use to retore all my work wasn’t functioning correctly. It took a while to get it all sorted out, but eventually I was able to back up everything using the built-in hard drive of the defunct machine.
Well, almost everything. I was still using iTunes, with a fairly old operating system. And it has proven to be a royal headache migrating my old iTunes music library and its hundreds of playlists and tens of thousands of songs into Apple Music. (It must be said, Music does not seem to be a technological improvement. Rather, it feels more like an “advancement” geared mainly toward shifting you into their paid music streaming service.) I still haven’t got Music up and running with my playlists, but I’m plugging on regardless, based on what playlists remain on the old phone I’d repurposed a while back as an MP3 player.
So welcome back, and enjoy the new posts!
