A truly international act, formed in New York City by twin Italian brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace and Japanese art student Kazu Makino, Blonde Redhead got their start as an art-punk band heavily influenced by such bands as Sonic Youth, with Amedeo Pace and Makino trading male-female lead vocal duties back and forth over distorted guitar clutter and buzz. As the band matured, they began incorporating more keyboards into their sound, burying the guitar under an atmospheric wash of effects.
