Further Listening playlists feature music from notable albums that were not included on any of the decade’s Year-in-Review playlists, but would interest devotees of a particular genre. As usual, the albums are sequenced roughly chronologically within each playlist, generally with three tracks per album.

This post is a work in progress.  It’s a bit of a “stub.”  Right now, it only contains music from 1970.  (In fact, it contains no music at all, as my sole selection for the playlist from 1970 is unavailable in Spotify!  So this post is a stub, most absolutely.)  It will grow as I move through the decade, year-by-year.  Be sure to check on it periodically, to watch it grow!

Perhaps the greatest development of world music in the ’70s was the emergence of reggae.  Other notable music from around the globe came from Brazil, Africa, and elsewhere.

Brazil had plenty of great music in the aftermath of the late-’60s Tropicália movement, including Jorge Ben’s Força Bruta (1970, not available on Spotify).

I’ll be building the playlist as I progress through the decade, adding to it year-by-year. By the time I finish all the Year in Review posts for 1970s, the playlist will be complete!

Playlist Notes:

  • Jorge Ben’s Força Bruta (1970) does not appear to be available on Spotify.  My selections are “Oba, Lá Vem Ela,” “Apareceu Aparecida,” and “Mulher Brasileira.”

1970s, Further Listening

So you’ve made your way through my Year in Review playlists, and you want more….  Here it is.

These Further Listening playlists feature music from notable albums that didn’t quite make the cut for the Year-in-Review playlists, but would definitely interest devotees of a particular genre. Enjoy!
