Playlist Notes:
- The songs given here to represent the Incredible String Band’s The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter were the three I originally selected, my three favorite tracks from the album. However, I opted to substitute a longer, more acclaimed (and further out) track for two of the songs when I built the Psych Excursions Further Listening Playlist, as it seemed only fitting there.
- For my original personal playlist at home, I edited some longer pieces down. For your Spotify playlist, edited versions are of course not available:
- Steve Reich, “It’s Gonna Rain”: I edit this down to just over 2 minutes, about the amount of time it takes to get the general idea.
- Terry Riley, In C: I have a 12-minute edit, starting from the beginning.
- Several of the singles I selected to represent 1968 were not available on Spotify:
- Kaleidoscope – Dream for Julie
- The Move – Fire Brigade
- Fire – Father’s Name was Dad
- Small Faces – Call it Something Nice
- The album Clouds by Joni Mitchell appears greyed out, unplayable in Spotify. Indeed, very few of her albums—and none of her most greatest releases—appear currently under Spotify.
