It’s hard to talk about the Silver Apples in the context of the ‘60s, simply because they sound like nothing else of their time. Their unique blend of synthesizer and drums generated a pulsing, driven form of pop music that sounds to my ears more closely related to the mid- to late-‘90s work of Stereolab than anything else. Occasional sampled instruments and verbal chatter add to the texture. Don’t expect too much from the lyrics, but the music is simply revolutionary.

The playlist is a mixture of the two albums the band released before disbanding late in the decade. (They later regrouped in the ‘90s to release a previously-unfinished album.)
